Nothing adds freshness like Pico de Gallo
My favorite part of any meal is a fresh element with flavor that pops. With today’s busy family schedules, adding that level of freshness isn’t always easy. Unless of course you are making Pico de Gallo. You can easily toss this recipe together minutes before dinner.
And, if keeping your ingredients fresh is a concern, here are a few easy tips to follow …
Tomatoes:
Keeping your tomatoes at room temperature can definitely improve the flavor. But keeping them in the refrigerator can help keep them from going bad to soon. Use your best guess based on the ripeness of the tomatoes you buy. And to learn a little more information on storing tomatoes check out this experiment from Serious Eats .
Cilantro:
To keep your cilantro fresh for days, simply trim off stems for a fresh clean cut, and place in a jar partially filled with water.
Onions:
The best way to store onions is to keep them kept in a cool, dry, well ventilated place. Storing them in the refrigerator can actually make them soft and icky much more quickly.
